ORIGINAL THIRTEEN COLONIES SPECIAL EVENT 2014

July 6, 2014 (11:20am) - "Clean Sweep"! I just completed contacts with Virginia and New Jersey.

July 6, 2014 - A busy work schedule and an impromptu trip to Colonial Williamsburg, VA during the weekend limited opportunities to seek contacts with these special event stations. I spent a few hours on HF yesterday and successfully contacted nearly all special event "colonial states" with the exception of New Jersey, Virginia and WM3PEN. Rhode Island was a welcomed contact on 20M Phone (LOTW is still needed). I'm hopeful to make a "clean sweep" today before the week-long event "warps up."

June 29, 2014 - The original "Thirteen Colonies Special Event" features stations from all of the original US colonies "hitting the air" this week to commemorate Independence Week and the Fourth of July. The colony stations will operate:

• Tuesday, July 1st, 9:00 AM Eastern (1300 UTC) until 
• Sunday Night, July 6th, 00:00 (Midnight) Eastern (0400 UTC July 7th)

Last summer, I worked several of these stations from my back yard (QRP). It was a fun experience, despite the physical reasons that kept me "stuck at home."

This summer, I'm paying close attention to states / bands needing LOTW  confirmations (which is my preferred choice for QSL'ing). I hope to complete  contacts with all of the "Thirteen Colony" states. And I'm particularly eager to complete contacts with LOTW users to further complete the 5Band WAS SSB endorsement. Some of the colonial special event stations will upload to LOTW.
