iOS APP REVIEWS

iOS APP Reviews: Propagation, DX Cluster, DXCC

NOTE: This APP has been updated by the manufacturer since I reviewed it.

July 31, 2013 - I've sampled several APP's for use in the field. Among the best is SOTA GOAT. Unfortunately, the SOTA APP is limited to summits. Not helpful unless you're at higher elevations.
DX-Hunter is an application for amateur radio operators, short wave listeners and all the people who want to know what is going on at the amateur radio frequencies. See with DX-Hunter which amateur radio stations that are still missing in your log book are on air right now. DX-Hunter can alert you when stations you need are appearing on the bands even when your app isn't running (push notifications).
DX Hunter is an app for iPhones and other smart phones that automatically sent alerts for DX based user defined search criteria. Each user uploads an ADIF to the DX Hunter main web site. The App automatically cross-references DX cluster spots with the log file and sends alerts for new entities needed for DXCC. DX Hunter is highly customizable - in terms of entities, bands, confirmed vs unconfirmed entities, and modes. This APP has excellent alert feature options (including silent alerts), excellent graphics, indication of LOtW users and much more.
WaveGuide is described by the developer as "the amateur radio operator's ultimate utility for determining HF propagation conditions at the touch of a finger. Utilizing data from popular DX clusters like PSK ReporterDX Watch, and Reverse Beacon NetworkWaveGuide plots real-time propagation conditions on a global map, connecting stations with great circles to show exactly where band conditions are best. The colors of the great circles indicate the band, so it's easy to visually determine how the ionosphere is behaving anywhere in the world. WaveGuide was designed from the ground-up as a Universal app that works great on all iOS devices, including iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch."
